Headlines Fired is a campaign wherein the credit card companies that still allow the purchase of firearms are exposed and forced to “take credit where credit is due.”

INSIGHT


After a mass shooting, headlines focus only on the death toll, shooter, and location. However, no headlines have addressed the fact that almost every major mass shooting was funded by big name credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.






IDEA


By changing the usual focus of headlines, we are holding credit card companies responsible by partnering with Buzzfeed News. We are also using the most iconic ads from said companies as a base for our own ads.






ACTION


Headlines Fired will assist supporters in switching their payment methods to alternative options such as PayPal, Apple Pay, and Venmo—all companies that have banned the purchase of firearms within their applications.

SOCIAL AWARENESS


Headlines Fired will further spread the word with social media challenges and will showcase the best posts on the Headlines Fired website, where more information on how to take action is also available.
